Thinking Globally - Working Locally: A Conference on Food Safety Education.

Speaker Biographies

Lic. Maria José Ravalli

Maria José Ravalli is in charge of the Social Communication and Education Department of the Pan American Institute for Food Safety and Zoonosis, a scientific center of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).

Maria José conducts a team orientated to promote the food safety education in Latin America and Caribbean countries by developing standardized materials and activities targeted to consumers, educators, kids, food manipulators, and primary health sectors. The team also promotes the articulation between the health and agricultural sectors for food safety education campaigns.

She has an honor diploma in public relations and has done postgraduate work in consumer research. She had been working for a year at the PAHO, when the Department was created.
