The Deputy Chief Information Officer (DCIO) manages all aspects and elements of the FERC's information technology, communications systems, and records management operations, as well as other related information needs throughout the FERC.

Security and Systems Assurance Division
The Security and Systems Assurance Division is responsible for the management and oversight of the Commission cyber security and systems assurance programs. In addition, the Division oversees the records management program at the Commission. This covers:
- From the receipt of the record for inclusion in eLibrary;
- To the destruction of the records;
- Including all policy decisions related to the program; and
- Outreach to the staff to ensure proper records handling throughout the Commission.
IT Operations and Information Management Division
The IT Operations and Information Management Division is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Commission IT Infrastructure and IT Customer Support. This includes:
- Providing oversight and management of all network infrastructure operations, telecommunications systems, and office automation hardware and software.
- Providing efficient and reliable IT systems and services to increase the Commission’s productivity and implements effective automated strategies to support the Commission.
- Ensuring that the Commission’s IT Training needs are met and provides our external customers training on the Commission’s information systems, resources and electronic filing system.
- Monitoring and reporting on the efficiency and effectiveness of the Commission’s IT infrastructure.
- Overseeing and facilitating information design and architecture for the effective and efficient utilization of data to regulate and oversee the energy industry and comply with Federal legislative mandates.
- Supporting development of a centralized information medium that promotes data transparency across the Commission and energy markets.
- Enhancing the Commission’s collection, description, evaluation, classification, storage/archive, retrieval, manipulation, presentation and distribution of information.
- Overseeing the Data Collection Program and ensures Compliance with OMB Guidelines.
Systems Engineering Division
The Systems Engineering Division is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of information applications and systems. The Division is also responsible for:
- Providing the Commission with project management and policy compliance support;
- Development support and oversight and coordination for the following as they relate to specific projects. Advises and consults with clients on the:
- Development,
- Implementation, and
- Operation of office automation systems and
- Performing:
- Feasibility studies,
- Requirements analyses, and
- Implementing administrative and mission related applications systems.
IT Policy and Regulatory Compliance Division
The IT Policy and Regulatory Compliance Division is responsible for ensuring that DCIO and the Commission meet all OMB guidance related to Information Technology. The Division also:
- Provides advisory and implementation support in the development of policy and procedures encompassing any of the DCIO’s program responsibilities.
- Assists the DCIO in the budget preparation including planning, reviewing, and timely completion.
- Prepares special ad hoc studies, analyses and/or reports as required.
