Public Meeting to Address Codex Committee on Milk And Milk Products

WASHINGTON, Nov. 27, 2007 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety
and Inspection Service (FSIS) and Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS)
today announced a public meeting to provide information and receive comments on agenda items and draft
U.S. positions for the Eighth Session of the Codex Committee on Milk and Milk Products (CCMMP)
of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (Codex). The formal committee session will be held at the Millennium
Hotel in Queenstown, New Zealand, Feb 4-8, 2008.
The public meeting will be held from 9:00 a.m. to noon, Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, in Room 3074, South
Agriculture Building, USDA, 1400 Independence Avenue, SW, Washington, D.C. 20250. Pre-registration for the
public meeting is not required, however, attendees must present photo identification to gain admittance to the

The CCMMP was established to elaborate codes, guidelines, standards and related texts for milk and milk products.
Codex was created in 1963 by two United Nations organizations, the Food and Agriculture Organization and the
World Health Organization. Codex develops food standards, guidelines and codes of practice in order to protect
the health of consumers, ensure fair food trade practices and promote coordination of food standards undertaken
by international governmental and non-governmental organizations.
