Dr. G. Kemble (Kem) Bennett leads the engineering programs of The Texas A&M University System. He holds several titles and areas of responsibility: Vice Chancellor for Engineering, Dean of the Dwight Look College of Engineering at Texas A&M University, and Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Texas Engineering Experiment Station. As Vice Chancellor for Engineering, Dr. Bennett administers the research programs and extension services of three state agencies: the Texas Engineering Experiment Station, the Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) and the Texas Transportation Institute; and he provides coordination for the academic and research programs throughout the A&M System. As Dean of the Dwight Look College of Engineering, he heads one of the largest and highest ranked engineering programs in the nation. 

Dr. Bennett is also a leader in local, state and national homeland security and emergency response. He was the founding chairman of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) National Domestic Preparedness Consortium, where he served for five years. He is Executive Director of the National Emergency Response and Rescue Training Center and the founder of Texas Task Force-1 (TX-TF1), a FEMA federal urban search and rescue team. He served as Director of the team and was deployed to the World Trade Center following the 9-11 terrorist attacks.

Dr. Bennett is the recipient of several professional awards. He is an elected Fellow of both the Society of Logistics Engineers and the Institute of Industrial Engineers, where he was recognized as a distinguished educator through the prestigious awarding of the Eccles Medal and the Albert G. Holzman Award. He was named an “Eminent Engineer” by the engineering honor society Tau Beta Pi and was recently selected as a Distinguished Engineer by the College of Engineering at Texas Tech University. He is a registered professional engineer and has been appointed by the Governor to serve on the Texas Board of Professional Engineers. 

Dr. Bennett holds a B.S. degree from Florida State University, a M.S. degree from San Jose State University and a Ph.D. degree in industrial engineering from Texas Tech University.
