USCIS Director Emilio Gonzalez Unveils New USCIS Facilities in South Florida

On March 16, 2007, USCIS Director Emilio Gonzalez announced the future construction of four new USCIS facilities in Miami, Hialeah, Broward County and Kendall, Florida. These offices will serve as a future model for USCIS operations in the 21st century.

Each of these facilities will be a full service office. No longer will USCIS customers have to go to three or four different locations. The new buildings represent a full range of modern design concepts in accessibility, security, convenience and appearance. They're also environmentally friendly and located near public transportation routes. The new design includes all the essentials to ensure that everything from the layout to the location supports USCIS' mission and goal to provide better service to our customers.

As part of a national pilot program, USCIS will renovate or replace 36 new offices across the country over the next three years. The decision to renovate or replace a facility will depend on its physical condition and sustained ability to serve the mission of USCIS and the needs of its customers.

At the ceremony to unveil the new office designs, Director Gonzalez stated, "USCIS is no longer content to operate in an outdated working environment. We are the first face and contact of the federal government that all immigrants experience. Some people say that first impressions are critical to any relationship. I believe that it is imperative to the future of our Nation to build a positive first impression with future Americans. The initial step in this process is the delivery of quality USCIS services from professional, convenient and modern facilities."
