Resources on School Violence
We have compiled the following list of resources on school violence, which are available on or through public websites.
- On June 13, 2007, a joint report on the shootings at Virginia Tech prepared by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the U.S. Department of Education, and the U.S. Department of Justice was presented to the President. The report does not investigate the incident, but responds to broader issues raised by the tragedy and includes recommended steps the federal government can take to support local and state communities in helping to prevent future school violence. Read the report.
- The Campus Specific Threat Assessment Instrument was produced as a result of a partnership between the FBI, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and the IACLEA. The instrument is available at www.iaclea.org. Non-members are required to submit a request on agency letterhead to receive a copy. IACLEA also maintains a listserv providing for the real time exchange of information vital to improving the preparedness of campus public safety agencies, e.g., incident action plans for active shooter situations.
