The Yuma Area Office administers all Colorado River water deliveries downstream of Davis Dam, except for water exported out of the watershed to the Southern California coastal plain and to Central Arizona. About 95% of Reclamation's water deliveries in the Yuma area go to agriculture, the leading industry. Therefore, the Yuma area water conservation program focuses primarily on agriculture.

The Yuma Area Office schedules water deliveries from Parker Dam to users in southern Arizona, southern California, and Mexico; operates and maintains four drainage well fields in the Yuma area; maintains drainage canals; conducts desalting technology research; meets the international treaty obligation with Mexico by operating and maintaining the world's largest reverse osmosis desalting plant and international canal system; provides technical support and conducts training and demonstration projects on water conservation for local water districts and Native Americans; and provides water quality experts internationally. Additionally, it manages all salinity control projects south of Imperial Dam; maintains the Colorado River channel and levees from Parker Dam to the U.S.-Mexico border; conducts habitat restoration and management projects along the river; and operates dredge and land-based heavy equipment to maintain the Colorado River channel for navigation, flood control, and water delivery operations.
