This component of the NETL Innovations for Existing Plants (IEP) Program seeks to develop cost-effective control technology for: (1) primary fine particulates and associated trace metals (e.g., lead, arsenic, etc.); (2) gaseous precursors that react in the atmosphere to form secondary fine particles; and (3) acid gases (e.g., H2SO4, HF, and HCl) that can create visible plumes and are reportable under the Toxic Release Inventory. These efforts will be closely allied to the Air Quality Research activities to ensure that PM control technology research focuses on the pollutants of most concern. |
