A.A. Brooks, Chair
- Call To Order - 5:06PM
- Attendees: Lewis, Pardue, Kaplan, Hill. Sonnenberg
(P), Coin, Carter, Dalton (P) , Hanley (P) , Brooks
- Announcements & Communications:
- Bill Carter re: Health Resources and Services Administration
(HRSA) - Mr. Robert Jackson, HRSA Associate Director
for Primary Care, will be available for a presentation
at the ORRHES September meeting - "Community Health
Centers: Needs and Strategy"
- ORRHES Agenda Items: The following action on suggested
agenda items were approved by unanimous voice vote:
- PHAWG request for CDC presentation on additivity
of I-131 estimated doses. See P. Adkins 2 = The following
motion will be submitted to ORRHES, August 31, 2001: "The
Oak Ridge Reservation Health Effects Subcommittee respectfully
requests Dr. Jeffery Koplan, Administrator, ATSDR to
authorize the presentation of the issues surrounding
the additivity of the several alleged I-131 doses at
ATSDR's earliest convenience. We understand that a
similar talk had been prepared by Mr. Charles Miller
(CDC) and Mr. Andre Bouville (NCI) for presentation
at Hanford. We believe that this talk expanded by a
few remarks on the ORR radioactive lanthanum (RaLa)
releases would more than suffice our needs to understand
the issues."
- HRSA presentation on establishing health services
clinics. - K.
Davidson, P. Akins 3
A HRSA presentation on Health Clinics was approved
. Ms. Dalton to coordinate, see Bill Carter for times.
- Progress report on EPA, etal. Sampling program -
K. Davidson
An EPA Sampling Progress report was approved and it
is understood that it will be available.
- Invite Mangano to workshop on his paper. B. Sonnenberg
- This request was referred to the PHAWG for their
action during their consideration of the Mangano paper.
- Schedule an Uncertainty Workshop by Hoffman Public
via S. Kaplan. - Having heard Mr. Hoffman recently
and in consideration of other I-131 actions in PHAWG,
this suggestion was not accepted.
- Include Cd, As, Ni, Hg, Pb as COCs - P. Adkins 1
Noting that all but Cadmium were included in the ORHASP
screens and that the Public Health assessment WG
(PHAWG) is currently considering the adequacy of
the screening process, this suggestion was referred
to the PHAWG for further action. It was noted that
the Subcommittee's work would be greatly facilitated
if the submitter would supply more details, such
as suspected location and media bearing the suspected
contaminant as well as level or any other quantitative
information that may be available.
- Design study on MCS - P. Adkins 4
This suggestion comes well before the Subcommittee
has laid a foundation to
address such questions in its final recommendations. Therefore this suggestion
was referred to the PHAWG for incorporation into future planning.
- ORRHES Retreat Agenda
There was a long discussion of the retreat agenda pointing
out that it dwelled on "consensus" but there were
many other topics to be discussed including mission
statement, "procedures" leading to progress and closure,
loss of members, etc. While no actions were taken,
there was an expression of determination to broaden
the scope of the printed agenda.
- The new process flow sheet was distributed with casual
comments.
- In closing a request for a progress report on the Web
Site was added without objection.
