Grand Haven Area H-ADCP

NOTICE: Aug 25, 2008. The battery has failed. Data is no longer being updated. This project is now completed for 2008.

The H-ADCP is a current measuring device which uses an acoustic signal to sense water currents along a horizontal beam about 6 feet below the water surface. Currents are measured every 10 minutes at 50 points spaced 6 feet apart along the beam and updated at this web site once per hour. This instrument is part of the ongoing GLERL research project on the connection between nearshore transport and beach water quality. It was deployed in mid July 2008 and will be removed in mid September 2008.
