Information for Hosting Facilities

Hosting facilities include DHS laboratories, DHS Centers of Excellence and its partners, DOE national laboratories, and other federal research facilities. Projects submitted by DOE national laboratories and other federal research facilities are subject to approval by DHS, Office of University Programs, and must demonstrate relevance to one or more of the homeland security research areas.

Expectations

Deadlines

Postdoctoral fellowship applications must be submitted by April 15th for appointments starting June through December and September 15th for appointments starting January through May.

Submission of Projects

Hosting facilities may send project(s) or research topic(s) and advisor information for posting on the DHS Postdoctoral Fellowship Program web site at anytime by e-mailing a Word document or PDF file to dhsed@orau.org. Consider including the following information in the document you provide.

  1. General description of your facility
  2. Description of the homeland security expertise of your facility
  3. Title and short description of available project(s) or research topic(s) with a direct relationship to one or more homeland security research areas. Please list the homeland security research area(s) related to or supported by the project.
  4. Name and contact information of the person that will serve as the research advisor for each project
  5. Terms of postdoctoral appointments at your facility, such as level of flexibility regarding start/end dates, housing availability, security clearance requirements, if any, etc.
  6. Brief plan on how postdoctoral fellows are integrated into the community (both at work and socially) at your facility
