Trout may be removed from 7 lakes to help out frogs 1 hour ago

This Tahoe Daily Tribune Article explains why the Forest Service is considering removing fish to protect frogs in the Desolation Wilderness.

The proposal is part of an attempt to restore Sierra Nevada yellow-legged frog populations to the wilderness area and could affect Ralston Lake, Tamarack Lake, Cagwin Lake, Margery Lake, Lucille Lake, Le Conte Lake, Jabu Lake and their associated ponds and streams, according to a statement from the U.S. Forest Service.

This article by Michael Doyle’s for McClatchy Newspapers gives an update on the proposed Krebbs Wilderness in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks.

The new bill would designate about 69,000 acres now in the Sequoia and Kings Canyon national parks as the John Krebs Wilderness.
