18th Workshop on Crystalline Silicon Solar Cells & Modules: Materials and Processes

August 3 - 6, 2008

  • Vail, CO

The workshop is intended to address the fundamental properties of PV-Si, new solar cell designs, and advanced solar cell processing techniques. It will provide a forum for an informal exchange of technical and scientific information between international researchers in the photovoltaic and relevant non-photovoltaic fields. It will offer an excellent opportunity for researchers in private industry and at universities to prioritize mutual needs for future collaborative research.

Residential Wind Power Workshop

August 4 - 8, 2008

  • Paonia, CO

Participants in this workshop will learn to design and install residential wind systems up to 100kWh/day in capacity. The workshop will cover system sizing, site analysis, installation and safety issues, and hardware specification. Learn about the different commercially available residential wind turbines, how they work, and the advantages and disadvantages of each. Students will learn to estimate electrical production of a turbine given the parameters of the site, tower and turbine.

Researchers, engineers, scientists, architects, industry, consultants, and policy-makers in the areas of energy efficiency, renewable energy, and advanced energy technologies are invited to participate in this exchange of innovative ideas, leading edge concepts, new technologies and devices, ongoing R&D efforts, prototype and demonstration projects, commercialization technologies and projects, and visions of the future related to the general theme of energy sustainability.

Center for Revolutionary Solar Photoconversion (CRSP) Workshop on Efficient Conversion of Solar Energy to Electricity and Fuels: Critical Research Directions and Tutorial (PDF 999 KB)

August 13 - 15, 2008

  • Boulder, CO

This workshop  will facilitate cross-institutional networking and bootstrap researchers (academia, government and industry) on key issues in clean energy research and the development of carbon-free energy sources.

The Fifth International Conference on Hot-Wire Chemical Vapor Deposition (HWCVD5)

August 20 - 24, 2008

  • Cambridge, MA

HWCVD-5 is a forum devoted to the advancement of hot-wire chemical vapor deposition. The alternative names of catalytic CVD (Cat-CVD), initiated CVD (iCVD), and hot-filament CVD (HFCVD) reflect the diversity of fields that have been impacted by this technology. The Cambridge/Boston area offers a multitude of activities to sample and enjoy and is a wonderful location to continue the spirit of international cooperation established at previous HWCVD conferences. The conference will provide numerous opportunities for networking among academic and industrial attendees.
