As the need for national security increases, so does the need for preparedness. To make the right choices for security preparation, the first step is to understand vulnerabilities.

Regardless of what you are protecting or your current security posture, Y‑12 can provide you with the skills and capabilities to prepare you to identify your threats and effective and efficient methods to defend against them.

Training

Y‑12 offers courses in vulnerability assessments developed for the U.S. government that provide continuing education units and in some cases are POST certified. Classes may be conducted in a location of your choice. Conducting training at a user site facilitates the opportunity to use one of your facilities as a case study that provides you and your security team with practical experience.

Assessments

Y‑12 uses trained, experienced vulnerability assessment analysts and a variety of validated modeling and simulation tools to provide you with a complete picture of your current security system. The assessments also include strategies necessary to enhance your system.

Computer Modeling and Simulation

Y‑12 operates a unique laboratory that allows for assessments at classification levels appropriate for the individual customer. Among the tools available are

  • Aloha,
  • AVERT™,
  • Hotspot and
  • Joint Conflict and Tactical Simulation.

Y‑12 can perform

  • modeling of buildings,
  • combat simulations,
  • supply‑chain modeling,
  • discrete event modeling and
  • advanced explosive, fragmentation and blast‑overpressure analyses.

Using methodologies developed and validated by the nuclear industry, Y‑12 can train your team to conduct its own vulnerability assessments or perform assessments for you. Once an assessment is complete, Y‑12's experienced security specialists work with you to identify possible changes or upgrades that may be needed to improve security.
