CALIPSO
CALIPSO Mission to Earth
CALIPSO:
The Cloud-Aerosol Lidar and Infrared Pathfinder Satellite Observation (CALIPSO) spacecraft studies the role clouds and airbone particles, also known as atmospheric aerosols, play in regulating Earth's weather, climate and air quality. The spacecraft uses sensitive instruments to probe the structures and properties of clouds and aerosols in Earth's atmosphere.

CALIPSO orbits the earth in formation with CloudSat, Aqua and other Earth-orbiting spacecraft to provide more information on our home planet's atmosphere, climate and weather. satellite will provide new insight into the role that clouds and atmospheric aerosols (airborne particles) play in regulating Earth's weather, climate, and air quality.
