OUT8W02 -- Applied Environmental Education Program Evaluation (On-line)

 This on-line course is designed to assist natural resource professionals and environmental educators in evaluating their education programs. This course provides an overview of evaluation in environmental education and outreach programs. Participants will be given an opportunity to apply skills in designing evaluation tools such as surveys, observation forms, and interview or focus group guides.

Who Should Attend: Individuals involved in designing and/or implementing environmental education and outreach programs.
Objectives:
  • State purposes, benefits, and importance of educational program evaluation;
  • Distinguish between front-end, formative, and summative evaluations;
  • Write measurable program objectives that link program development and evaluation;
  • Develop a comprehensive evaluation plan for an environmental education or outreach program;
  • State when and how to use data collection tools;
  • Develop three data gathering tools: observation form, survey, and an interview or focus group guide;
  • Develop alternative assessment tools such as rubrics, checklists, and rating scales to judge performance;
  • Analyze and interpret data gathered from evaluation tools .
