Office of the United States Trade Representative

September 15, 2005 US Trade Representative Rob Portman Statement Praising Senate Action on Dorgan Amendment
09/15/2005

"With the strong bipartisan rejection of the Dorgan amendment today, the Senate cast a vote in favor of  the U.S. working to knock down unfair trade barriers that hurt American business and farmers"

"Our comprehensive trade agenda includes reforming unfair trade practices.  The Dorgan amendment would have undermined those efforts to protect workers and also limited our ability to open foreign markets to U.S. exports.

"I want to praise Senator Grassley and Senator Baucus for their strong leadership on this critical vote."
