About DOI LEARN

NCTC Home

To access the 2008 Federal Information Systems Security Awareness (FISSA) training, login to DOI LEARN at https://doilearn.doi.gov. You can find the course by clicking on the “My Courses” tab, and then the “Learning Plans” link. Click the course name to launch a session page, and then click the course name again to launch the course.

How to Register if Course is not in Learning Plan:

If the training does not appear in your Learning Plan area, you can find and register for it by:

  • Click on the Catalog link and enter 2008 in the search box. Click 'Search'.
  • Click the FISSA course name.
  • Scroll to fields at the bottom of the description.
  • Enter zeros in the 3 estimated cost fields.
  • Enter 'Agency' in the “Who’s Funding” drop down and click Apply.
  • The course will now be visible in your “My Courses” tab/ Online Training area.
Completing the Course

This course should take approximately 1 hour to complete. The training does not have to be completed in one sitting. Personnel will be able to exit and return to any sections not completed. Personnel must receive a score of at least 75% in order to qualify for a certificate of completion. Please carefully review the certificate printing instructions before printing the certificate of completion.

Completion by CD Rom

While completing the required training directly in DOI LEARN is the preferred method, we understand that this is not always feasible. For those personnel who have very slow or often interrupted Internet connections, this training course is also available in a CD-ROM format downloadable from http://www.doiu.nbc.gov/trainingcds.

Click on "DOI Information Resources Management Training.” Read the instructions for using the zipped file before you begin downloading. It is important to initially "save", not "open" the file, and to "extract" the files before using them.

Supervisors are responsible for ensuring that DOI LEARN is updated to reflect the CD completion for their employees. They must login to DOI LEARN and update the transcript. Instructions for updating transcripts are at http://training.fws.gov/doi_learn/documents/Update_Transcripts.pdf. The RITSM should be forwarded a copy of the CD generated certificate for their records.

Java settings and Browser Configurations

Please ensure the correct Java and internet browser settings are installed on all local PC’s. Required PC settings are found at: http://doilearn.doi.gov/MaestroC/OnlineResourceDocs/2/IEBrowser_Settings.pdf
http://doilearn.doi.gov/MaestroC/OnlineResourceDocs/2/Java_Settings.pdf

Users of Internet Explorer 7

If you are using Internet Explorer 7, the Active X Controls need to be activated so the 2008 FISSA will work. IE 6 works without the Active X Control.

MacIntosh Users

Mac users have tested the 2008 FISSA training. A few minor problems were identified with using the Safari browser but the majority completed the training without difficulty. Mac users that didn't have problems were running OS 10.4.8 with all the recent software updates installed and are using Firefox Version 1.5.0.9. Mac users may have to configure Quicktime (the Mac standard audio player) to play the MIME type WMA.
