Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) Implantation Data from the Iowa Foundation for Medical Care (IFMC) Medicare national coverage policy for implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) requires that providers implanting these devices for certain clinical indications enter implant data in a clinical registry. The patient's provider was to enter data into the ICD Abstraction Tool which was run through the Quality Network Exchange System by the Iowa Foundation for Medical Care. This registry was available for data abstraction from February 2005 to April 2006 (after which the American College of Cardiology - National Cardiovascular Data Registry ICD Registry took over as the data repository). Non Identifiable data from the registry's 14 months of operation are now available. The data set includes almost 45,000 records with each record representing a device implantation. Each record contains approximately 60 data fields which include information about patient demographics, clinical history, clinical characteristics, device information, and the admission, implant and discharge dates. This file will not be updated since registry responsibility has now shifted to the ACC-NCDR. Media: CD ROM File Cost: $100.00
