The Biological and Environmental Research (BER) program pursues fundamental research in such areas as genomics, structural biology, global climate change, environmental cleanup, and nuclear medicine. Throughout its 50-year history, BER has engaged in a variety of multidisciplinary research activities:

• Establishing the world's first Human Genome Program.
• Developing advanced medical diagnostic tools and treatments for human disease.
• Assessing the health effects of radiation.
• Tracking the regional and global movement of energy-related pollutants.

There are also numerous publications, both peer-reviewed and programmatic, that describe scientific findings of the investigators.

In the future, we will have an electronic poster session where investigators can announce results. (The ARM electronic poster will serve as a prototype for this feature.)
