Orlando Electronic Crimes Task Force
The Orlando Electronic Crimes Task Force provides an enhanced response capability to address the entire spectrum of electronic or cyber crime, to include unauthorized access or penetration into protected computer systems, denial of service attacks and computer evidence recovery. The task force also acts as an information-sharing and problem-solving mechanism for all participants.
About the Orlando Electronic Crimes Task Force
The Orlando Electronic Crimes Task Force is an alliance of federal, state, county and local law enforcement, private industry and academia working together to protect the nation's critical infrastructure. Its goal is to prevent attacks against the nation's critical infrastructure, particularly in the electronic or cyber arena, through information sharing, criminal investigations, computer forensics and training.
The philosophy of the Orlando Electronic Crimes Task Force is to leverage high-tech law enforcement, research and academic, business and industry and other stakeholder resources for the protection of critical infrastructure. When appropriate, the task force facilitates an enhanced, multifaceted response to incidents to minimize negative effects and recovery time as well as identify offenders.
This partnership includes the U.S. Secret Service, the U.S. Attorney's Office, Seminole County Sheriff's Office, Orange County Sheriff's, the University of Central Florida, the UCF Police Department and the National Center for Forensic Science, among others. The Orlando Electronic Crimes Task Force has been instrumental in establishing programs in the following areas: computer forensics, liaison/information sharing, research into cyber attacks, various computer related and computer forensic training courses and various high tech criminal investigations, to include network intrusion, identity theft, computer hacking, Internet fraud, access device fraud (credit/debit card fraud and electronic skimming), money laundering and electronic funds transfer fraud.
