Mozambique Onchocerciasis Exposure Risk

The map was produced as part of a rapid epidemiological assessment of onchocerciasis in Mozambique conducted in 2000 by Aircare International with assistance from RPM Consulting. The purpose of the map was to predict areas in the country with the highest potential for onchocerciasis (river blindness) exposure based on a model which incorporated physical geographic factors such as the presence of water and elevation gain, together with estimated population densities.

The project was presented at the International Health Geographics Conference in 2000 and the 2000 ESRI Conference(http://gis.esri.com/library/userconf/proc00/professional/abstracts/a187.htm).
