SUBJECT: USDA Forest Resources Coordinating Committee

l PURPOSE

This regulation establishes a USDA Forest Resource Coordinating Committee as directed in Section 1222 of the Title 12 of the Food, Agriculture, Conservation, and Trade (FACT) Act of 1990, P.L. 101-624.

2 OFFICERS AND MEMBERSHIP

The Committee shall be permanently chaired by the Chief of the Forest Service, and include as members the Agricultural Research Service, Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service, Extension Service, and Soil Conservation Service agency heads or their designated representatives.

3 DUTIES

The Forest Resource Coordinating Committee shall:

a Provide assistance in directing and coordinating actions of the Department of Agriculture that relate to educational, technical, and financial assistance to private landowners concerning management, conservation, improvement, or productivity of forest land.

b Clarify individual agency responsibilities concerning forest land of each agency represented on the Committee.

c Advise the Secretary of intradepartmental differences regarding the implementation of Title 12 of the Food, Agriculture, Conservation, and Trade (FACT) Act of 1990, P.L. 101-624, and any other act related to the authority of the Secretary concerning non-Federal forest lands.
