B&W Y-12 medical director receives fellowship in occupational and environmental medical society

Thurs, 29 May 2008

B&W Y‑12’s Occupational Health Services Director Dr. Otis Cosby was elevated to fellowship in the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) at the college’s annual meeting in April.

“I am honored to be granted fellowship status in such a premiere organization focused on the health and safety of workers,” Cosby said. “It is an important achievement for me professionally.”

Cosby is a member of the Tennessee College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, one of ACOEM’s 30 component medical societies. Fellow is the highest class of membership within ACOEM. It recognizes physicians who have been engaged in the full-time practice of occupational and environmental medicine and who have exhibited significant leadership in ACOEM, at both the component society and national level. Fellows have also demonstrated their expertise within the specialty by achieving certification in occupational medicine or in another medical specialty. Fellows are eligible to serve as officers and directors of the college.

Cosby has been a member of ACOEM for more than 13 years.

B&W Technical Services Y‑12 operates the Y‑12 National Security Complex for the National Nuclear Security Administration.
