The file contains amended Long-Term Care (LTCH) Medicare Provider Analysis and Review (MedPAR) data from FY 2002 which reflects adjustments to the diagnosis and procedure codes for any LTCH cases in the FY 2002 MedPAR file for which multiple bills were submitted. This adjustment is necessary so that these cases receive the correct principal diagnosis and Diagnosis-Related Group (DRG) assignment. The same "corrected" FY 2002 LTCH MedPAR data was to determine the FY 2004 LTC-DRG relative weights in the FY 2004 IPPS final rule and in the evaluation of the one-time budget neutrality adjustment presented in the FY 2009 LTCH PPS proposed rule (published January 29, 2008 in the Federal Register). The file contains same data elements found in the National Hospital MEDPAR Limited Data Set (LDS) and the LTCH PPS Expanded Modified MEDPAR LDS, including the billed DRG (version 19.0), and also contains the FY 2003 (Version 20.0) DRG. The records are stripped of most data elements that will permit identification of beneficiaries. The six position Medicare billing number identifies the LTCH.
