The National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) archives and distributes daily, weekly, and monthly data products from the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer - Earth Observing System (AMSR-E) sensor on NASA's Aqua satellite.

This AMSR-E product Home Web page contains several links to other AMSR-E product Web pages such as the Data Summaries Web page, which provides links to all the guide documents for the AMSR-E data. The Order Data Web page provides several options for ordering AMSR-E data from NSIDC. The Data Versions Web page summarizes algorithm changes and temporal coverage for different versions of AMSR-E data. The Preliminary Data Web page provides FTP capabilities for ordering preliminary AMSR-E/Aqua data for the most recent eight days of data. The Tools Web page provides links to software for working with AMSR-E data. The News Web page lists updates to the data. This image shows the sea ice minimum for 16 September 2007. The magenta line indicates the long-term median from 1979 to 2000. September 2007 sea ice extent was 4.28 million square kilometers (1.65 million square miles), compared to 5.57 million square kilometers (2.14 million square miles) in September 2005. This image was derived using the AMSR-E/Aqua Daily L3 12.5 km Tb, Sea Ice Concentration & Snow Depth Polar Grids.
