This Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) image from the Aqua satellite on March 1, 2003, shows numerous dust storms across Iran (left), Afghanistan (top right), and Pakistan (bottom right). The dust storms appear as light tan or gray haze over the sharper browns and tan colors of the underlying arid landscape.
