Petroleum Marketing Annual Notice of Upcoming Changes

The Energy Information Administration has revised table formats and content for the Petroleum Marketing Annual (PMA). This announcement highlights the changes to inform data users.

  • Oxygenated gasoline as a separate category has been eliminated. Prices and volumes of oxygenated gasoline are included in "conventional."
  • The sulfur content sub-categories for No. 2 diesel fuel oil in parts per million (ppm) changed to the following:
    • Ultra-Low Sulfur Diesel (15 ppm sulfur and under)
    • Low Sulfur Diesel (greater than 15 ppm to 500 ppm sulfur (inclusive))
    • High Sulfur Diesel (greater than 500 ppm sulfur)
    • Note: "Ultra-Low Sulfur" plus "Low Sulfur" are equal to the old category "Low Sulfur."
  • In conjunction with these changes, the Total columns in certain PMM tables have been eliminated to help ensure that sensitive data reported to EIA by individual survey respondents may not be closely estimated using the aggregates published by EIA.
