Format of the Conference

This one day meeting, organized by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) will focus on Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) funding opportunities available explicitly to small businesses that have innovative biomedical or behavioral research ideas with commercial potential. This conference will benefit those who are relatively new to the Program as well as those who are more experienced. A flexible multiple-track schedule will be offered so that participants may attend any number of concurrent sessions appropriate to their specific needs. These tracks will cover (1) the NIH review process, (2) doing business with NIH, and (3) commercialization planning. Some of the specific presentations/panels will include: Preparing an NIH Grant Application; Elements of the now-required Phase II commercialization plans; Strategies for identifying commercialization partners; NIH licensing opportunities for small companies; Human subject assurances; Vertebrate animal issues; Invention reporting; and Post-award administration

One of the most valuable aspects of this conference is the opportunity for potential applicants and awardees to interact one-on-one with NIH Program Directors, Grants Management Specialists, and Review staff.

This is a must-attend conference if you're interested in the NIH SBIR/STTR program.
