Mesoscale and Boundary Layer Dynamics Working Group
The Mesoscale and Boundary Layer Dynamics Group studies the local scale meteorological
systems which impact daily life. Mesoscale systems include
changes occuring in less than a day and extend from 10 to 100 kilometers impact
pollution and local weather.
Boundary layer studies examine the lowest layer of the atmosphere which interacts with
terrain features, influencing turbulence, pollution and wind sheer.
These studies are relevent to a number of social concerns including:
- Air Quality
- Air Traffic Safety
- Wind Energy
- Hazardous Weather Forecasts
- Regional Health and Safety
