DATA FROM TOGA COAREGo to Dataset:

NCAR's Data Support Section is an archive site for data products in support of the Tropical Ocean Global Atmosphere Coupled Ocean Atmosphere Response Experiment. For more information on the program itself, see the TOGA COARE Data Information System web pages at NCDC.

Only a small portion of our holdings are available for free via the Web and ftp, but most of the TOGA COARE datasets are also available from other data centers. If you are a non-NCAR user who needs only small datasets or subsets, you can consult the Data Inventories at the TOGA COARE Data Information System to see if data are available for free from other centers. Otherwise, you can order the data from DSS. If you are an NCAR user with access to the Mass Storage System, you may access TOGA COARE data just as you would any of our other data.

The TOGA COARE data files at DSS are grouped together by data type. To find data by platform type (e.g. - aircraft data), see the COARE Data User's Guide at the TOGA COARE Data Information System. You can also get more information about the TOGA COARE program at the Data Information Unit.

Data available for free via the web:
Ocean Research Data
Data include global 1-degree sea-surface temperature grids and 3-D temperature and velocity grids for the Pacific Ocean.
Upper Air Data
These data are the upper air observations from NCEP's decode of the real-time GTS transmissions during TOGA COARE.
Surface Data
These data are the surface observations from NCEP's decode of the real-time GTS transmissions during TOGA COARE.

DSS datasets from which TOGA COARE data may be ordered:
ds606.1 TOGA COARE Air-Sea Fluxes and Sea-Surface Data
ds606.2 TOGA COARE Large Scale Atmospheric Data
ds606.3 TOGA COARE Convection and Mesoscale Data
ds606.4 TOGA/COARE Large Scale Ocean Data
ds606.5 TOGA/COARE Ocean Mixing Data
