NAVIGATING THE DSS WEBSITEGo to Dataset:

Apart from links embedded in text, nearly all of the pages on our website have a navigation system built into the "wrapper" surrounding the page contents. This system is designed to help you move easily around our site, but to also let you know where you are within our site.
    LINKS IN THE TOP PICTURE
      "GET DATASET" BOX:
If you know the number of the dataset that you want to go to, this is a fast way to get there. Just enter the number in the box and hit return.
      FILE TABS:
The UCAR, NCAR, and SCD tabs link to those sites, respectively.
      RIGHT-SIDE LINKS:
The SEARCH and SITE MAP links go to those respective pages. The CONTACT US link allows you to send us email. The INTERNAL link is restricted to DSS access only.
    SITE NAVIGATION BAR
The nine buttons (beginning with the HOME button) in this bar will allow you to move around to all of the informational areas of our website and our anonymous ftp server. If you have a javascript-enabled browser, they will also "light up" when you move your mouse over them and a pull-down menu of options will appear (not currently supported for Netscape 6). Except for the HOME button, the buttons have a corresponding link on the home page surrounding the globe plot. If you move your mouse over those links, you will see a brief description appear over the globe. Whenever you are in one of the eight informational sections of the site, that section's button will be white, but still clickable.
    DATASET NAVIGATION BAR
When you go to a dataset web page or one of the supporting pages for a dataset, you will see an additional navigation bar, the dataset navigation bar, below the site navigation bar. The dataset navigation bar works the same way as the site navigation bar except that there are no menus and the buttons are specific to the particular dataset that you are viewing. From this navigation bar, you can get to dataset documentation, access codes, inventories, etc., if they exist, otherwise the buttons will appear to be "grayed out".

An additional feature on the dataset and dataset-supporting web pages is the clickable globe to the left of the dataset number and page title. Clicking the globe will take you to a list of all datasets in the "range" which includes the dataset you are currently viewing. This will allow you to easily see other similar datasets.
