Programs

The Residents

  • Sierra Vista serves adults with developmental disabilities who have moderate to mild mental retardation. Many of these individuals have mental health needs in addition to their developmental disability.
  • Individuals live and work at Sierra Vista while they undergo focused training and treatment to help them learn to manage their lives and gain control over impulsive and inappropriate behaviors. The highly structured program that Sierra Vista provides is intended to help the residents make good progress at improving their abilities and personal conduct.
  • As these individuals demonstrate acceptable behavioral control and personal responsibility, as well as appropriate work, social and living skills, they are assisted in returning to their original home community for placement.

Treatment

  • The model treatment program is designed to provide the residents with work/job training, including formal education opportunities, and teach new home life and living skills.
  • Individuals are placed at the facility according to need. Each person is assessed and will receive an Individual Program Plan. Sierra Vista's professional staff targets unacceptable behaviors and works to replace them with appropriate social behaviors.
  • Residents are escorted by and provided proper staff supervision whenever they leave the facility, except when a client joins their family for a therapeutic home visit.

Staff Recruitment

  • Sierra Vista is in an intense recruitment effort at this time. There are openings for all Level of Care staff; RNs, LVNs, PTs, and PTAs.
