FEMA Registration To End At Midnight Tonight

MADISON, Wis. -- September 15 is the deadline for Wisconsin residents to register for disaster help. An online visit or a single phone call can qualify a household or business owner for recovery assistance and services from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the state of Wisconsin, and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
"We're down to the final hours," said Federal Coordinating Officer Dolph Diemont of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). "If you suffered damage from the June and July storms and flooding and have not yet registered or turned in your SBA loan application, please, do so by midnight tonight."
A high volume of registrations are being received from other disasters, Diemont said. Callers should be patient and keep trying when they call 1-800-621-3362 or (TTY) 1-800-462-7585 for those with speech or hearing impairments. Call volume may be less after 9 p.m.
"But don't wait until the last minute," said Wisconsin Emergency Management Administrator Johnnie Smith. "Keep trying or, better yet, register online at www.fema.gov."
Currently 40,039 Wisconsin residents have registered with FEMA.
