Welcome
to the site of the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS).
This site is the building community's connection to the authoritative
national source of knowledge and advice on matters of building
regulation, science and technology. The following are all active councils of the National Institute of Building Sciences: the Building Enclosure Technology and Environment Council, the Building Seismic Safety Council, the buildingSMART alliance, the Facility Information Council, the Multihazard Mitigation Council, and the Building Enclosure Council. The Facility Maintenance and Operations Committee is a standing NIBS committee. Programs and projects include: HAZUS Multihazard Loss Estimation, National Building Information Model Standard (NBIMS), National Clearinghouse for Educational Facilities, Total Building Commissioning, and Whole Building Design Guide. NIBS also publishes the United States National CAD Standard, Asbestos and Lead-Based Paint Guidance Manuals, and several other informative publications and resources. |
