Christmas Tree Shipping Will Soon Begin

Shipping Christmas trees to other states and countries requires inspection and certification. Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) horticulturists provide these services. Attached is a summary of regulations to ship cut Christmas trees to states and territories of the United States, and to selected foreign countries. Review the information in the summary and contact the department to arrange field inspections prior to harvest and certification. Please provide at least five days notice before the actual shipping date when requesting certificates.

Growers Assisted Inspection Program
The Grower Assisted Inspection Program, or GAIP, was developed to help reduce the risk of nursery plants from being infected with Phytophthora ramorum. GAIP's basic objective is to assist nurseries to self monitor for Phytophthora species and mitigate pathogen problems using appropriate management practices.
