Plumes of greyish-tan dust streak across the Great Artesian Basin in this true-color Aqua MODIS image from February 2, 2005. Northern Territory, Queensland, and South Australia's deserts are painted in shades of salmon, brown, tan, green, and white under the veils, while bright red dots mark the locations of summer wildfires. Lake Eyre North sends a plume of white dust hundreds of kilometers long due north into the Simpson Desert across the Northern Territory and South Australia border. White clouds dot the southern edge of the scene.
