Lt. (Jr. Gr.) Marshall R. Reese and Quartermaster Max McLees, attached to the ship SURVEYOR, were drowned September 26, 1936, off the north shore of Unalaska Island when a dory in which they were leaving camp in Wislow Bay capsized in the surf....

Quartermaster Max McLees served continuously on the ship SURVEYOR since 1925. He was born August 8, 1902, at Seattle, Washington, and was married. He has a record of excellent service with the Bureau.
