John
F. Luckett,
lightkeeper on the party of Karl B. Jeffers, was killed November
1 when he accidentally fell from a 103-foot steel triangulation
tower at Cape Henry, Virginia. Twenty-four years of age and a
native of Mount Rainier, Maryland, he first entered the service
of the Bureau in September 1934, and had been employed at various
times in the parties of Meaney, Ratti, and Jeffers. He was a nephew
of Louis B. Diggins, who has been employed as an engraver for
a number of years by the Survey.
