Mr.
Schiff: It was s $17 million Health
Care Fraud case. Special Agent Paul
Wackes of the FBI's Miami office investigated...
Mr. Wackes: "An insurance
company had notified authorities of
a suspected prescription drug billing
scheme involving a pharmacy located
in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida."
Mr. Schiff:
Wackes says the FBI worked with the
Food and Drug Administration...
Mr. Wackes: "Much of the evidence
in this case was gathered through
the execution of a search warrant
that was done on the pharmacy as well
as other locations."
Mr. Schiff: About
a hundred insurance companies were
defrauded...
Mr. Wackes: "Evidence such
as insurance records, bank account
information and other documents were
obtained through grand jury subpoenas."
Mr. Schiff: Wackes
says the pharmacist sent in the phony
claims...
Mr. Wackes: "Once the pharmacist
had the name of a doctor as a prescribing
physician, all he then needs is the
name and health insurance information
from a patient."
Mr. Schiff: Suspects
convicted in the prescription billing
scheme faced Health Care Fraud, Bankruptcy
Fraud and Wire Fraud charges. I'm
Neal Schiff of the Bureau and that's
