1.  Studies Make Case for Finasteride to Prevent Prostate Cancer
(Posted: 06/24/2008) - Three new analyses of data from a large prostate cancer prevention trial bolster the case for finasteride as a preventive agent against prostate cancer, according to an article published online May 18, 2008, by the journal Cancer Prevention Research.

2.  Comorbidities May Limit Benefits of Combination Prostate Therapy
(Posted: 01/30/2008) - Men with localized prostate cancer who are also ill with other disorders may suffer more from the negative side effects of anticancer treatments such as androgen suppression therapy, according to the Jan. 23, 2008, Journal of the American Medical Association.

3.  Finasteride Not Linked to High-Grade Prostate Cancers
(Posted: 09/12/2007) - Finasteride is unlikely to induce high-grade prostate cancers in men who take the drug to prevent the disease, according to two studies released online Sept. 11, 2007, by the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.

4.  Gabapentin Helps Hot Flashes From Prostate Cancer Treatment
(Posted: 06/20/2007) - The drug gabapentin (Neurontin®) effectively reduced the intensity and duration of hot flashes in a clinical trial of more than 200 men receiving hormonal treatment for their prostate cancer, according to findings presented at the 2007 ASCO meeting in Chicago.

5.  Post-Surgery Radiation of Some Benefit in Advanced Prostate Cancer
(Posted: 12/06/2006) - For men with advanced prostate cancer, radiation treatment after surgery can reduce the risk of recurrence by about 50 percent, though it does not help them live any longer, according to the Nov. 15, 2006, Journal of the American Medical Association.
