ModelQuest System Validator

MarketMiner, Inc. (former AbTech Corporation)

Charlottesville, VA

INNOVATION
ModelQuest System Validator (SV) is an automated flight control system (FCS) system validation product for the F-18 High Alpha Research Vehicle (HARV). System validation is being accomplished by computing overplots of hundreds of simulations for insignificant and significant anomalies with a truth model (i.e., comparing new cases with previously established truth cases). Statistical network overplot analysis models automatically identified important differences between the truth model and an actual or hardware-in-the-loop simulated FCS. This is expected to substantially reduce the time required to validate new control systems.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS
  • Prototype development completed and delivered to DFRC (funding amount $599,000).
  • Substantially reduces costs associated with manual inspection of numerous variables for each FCS simulation run
  • Automates the generation of system validation and diagnostic models based on simulations of normal and anomalous conditions.
COMMERCIALIZATION
  • ModelQuest general data mining tool, MarketMiner market mining tool
  • Direct marketing and general data mining markets.
  • MarketMiner helps businesses acquire new customers more cost effectively, maximize the profitability of their customers, and gain a better understanding of their prospects and customers.
  • ModelQuest is applicable to a variety of domains including financial analysis, diagnostics, prognostics, and outcomes analysis
  • ModelQuest and MarketMiner are currently being sold as packaged software products.
  • Software development kits available for online and real-time analysis applications.
  • See www.marketminer.com
GOVERNMENT/SCIENCE APPLICATIONS
  • The software was initially developed for NASA DFRC to assist system engineers in validating an automated research flight-control system (RFCS) for the F-18 HARV. MQ SV is applicable to flight control systems, engines, manufacturing processes, medical signal processing, and mechanical equipment for:

  • Validation of new and modified systems and simulations
    • System level diagnostics (anomaly detection, isolation, prediction)
    • Comparative signal analysis (satellite telemetry, financial time-series and medical diagnostics [e.g., EKG analysis], applications.
  • The technology developing during this program is also being used by the NASA JSF (Telemetry Expert Analyst & Monitor) and Air Force Research Laboratory (Satellite Telemetry Anomaly Resolution).
