CAUTION

On July 20, 1994, Antonio Castro allegedly entered a house that was for sale in San Joaquin County, California, and attacked a real estate agent, stabbing him numerous times. Castro then allegedly stole the real estate agent's vehicle, and fled to Skagit County, Washington. On the morning of July 23, 1994, the stolen car was found near the home of an elderly man in rural Skagit County. The man was found bludgeoned and shot to death inside of his home, while his car and firearms known to belong to him were found missing. The next day, Castro was pulled over in the stolen car in Shasta County, California, but managed to escape by fleeing into the woods and swimming down a river. Further investigation revealed that on July 24, 1994, Castro bought a car in Lakehead, California. This vehicle was later found abandoned near the Mexican border close to San Diego, California.

Castro has been charged with attempted murder in California and first degree murder in Skagit County, Washington. On August 2, 1994, a federal arrest warrant was issued in the Western District of Washington charging Castro with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
