Federal Showcase Awards

Two PMEL Web sites were showcased and also won Federal Showcase Awards at the Federal Webmaster's Workshop held Aug 7-9, 1996 in Bethesda, MD, in the category "Making Observation Data Accessible".

The Web page development team includes Don Denbo, Dai McClurg, Mark Renton, Nancy Soreide, Willa Zhu, Stefan Zube.

Government Computer News formed the committee of judges, and criteria for selecting the Showcase awards included (1) integration of the Web/Internet into the general operations and business process of the agency, including interface to the citizens, and (2) cutting-edge technical capabilities, such as Java applets, and interfaces to databases. Federal Showcase awards were selected from a total of forty-five showcased Web sites. The award includes a congratulatory letter signed by Vice President Al Gore.
