DOI Standard Position Descriptions
The implementation of the Interagency Fire Program Management Qualifications Standards and Guide (IFPM) in October 2004, established interagency qualifications standards and Standard Position Descriptions for key wildland fire management positions. As part of the Department of Interior (DOI), the National Park Service is implementing DOI policy which mandates use of the DOI - IFPM Standard Position Descriptions.
When recruiting for positions, the DOI SPD's that include IFPM requirements cannot be used since IFPM requirements are not mandatory until October 1, 2009. For the positions covered by IFPM for existing employees, the DOI SPD's will replace exiting PD's once the employee meets IFPM requirements.
In some instances a DOI Standard Position Description may not be applicable to a position, and in these instances the NPS position descriptions listed below would be applicable.
