This program provides infrastructure support for science programs and works closely with all staff to ensure a safe workplace (in offices and laboratories as well as when conducting field research). Facilities support includes planning activities for replacement of aged infrastructure and developing space to meet new research needs. Environmental compliance support includes meeting required safety standards and permits, safety training for all employees, and ensuring the Center complies with requirements under the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
The Safety Program also monitors the maintenance and operation of small boats used in the Center's research activities; ensuring that operators are properly trained and that the Center's fleet of 44 small boats is being operated safely.
