The Groundfish Analysis Program focuses on priority topics that need immediate attention. Many of these topics provide important building blocks for understanding the ecosystem in which the Groundfish fishery occurs. We work primarily with six areas of research: Status of Stocks, Socioeconomics, Manmade Stress, Ecosystem and Climate, Technological Innovations and Management Support. Research in these areas is designed to meet immediate needs for scientific information in fishery decision-making, develop a broader understanding of the ecosystem, as well as to provide new tools and options to improve management in the future. The Groundfish Analysis program has three research teams Assessment, Aging and Economics working to achieve sustainability in Groundfish fisheries.
