The Global Health Fellows Program (GHFP)

The Global Health Fellows Program (GHFP)
Project Number: 936-3105.01
Agreement Type: Cooperative Agreement
Agreement Number: GPO-A-00-06-00005-00
Duration: July 2006 - July 2011
Geographic Scope - Worldwide

Program Objective:

GHFP, a mechanism for bringing technical experts with fresh ideas into USAID, works globally to provide support to the Agency's Health, Nutrition and Population programs. GHFP identifies, recruits, places and supports these health professionals specializing in a wide range of areas such as maternal and child health, malaria, avian influenza, HIV/AIDS, TB, family planning and reproductive health and other public health disciplines.

Program Services:

The Program develops health professionals at all levels (junior, middle and senior) through fellowship opportunities. Fellowships are limited to two to four years. Internships under this program are established on an on-going basis to encourage the "next generation" of health professionals. Placements are available worldwide, in particular at USAID in Washington and in the field at Missions. Placements at organizations collaborating with USAID provide added value in accomplishing the strategic objectives of the Agency and participating NGOs/PVOs/CBOs.

GHFP also offers a broad range of responsive organizational and professional development assistance through process improvement including team building, strategic planning, and meeting facilitation.
