National Conference and Equipment Showcase on Highway Asset Inventory and Data CollectionLearn how the information highway can improve the management and performance of your real-world roadways at the National Conference on Highway Asset Inventory and Data Collection. Bridge management systems, roadway geometry data collection, asset management in geotechnical engineering, and automated pavement distress surveys will be among the technologies showcased at the conference, to be held September 24–26, 2008, in Durham, North Carolina. “We are seeing great interest in the conference from participants around the country. The many speakers and participants will provide a national perspective on asset management and the information needed to make sound asset decisions,” says Terry Canales of the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT). An accompanying equipment showcase will feature demonstrations of the latest monitoring equipment and technologies. The conference will include separate tracks for pavements, bridges, roadside appurtenances, and geotechnical engineering. The conference is sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, Transportation Research Board, NCDOT, and North Carolina State University.
