Benefits and Other Support Services

As a wounded or injured transitioning service member or veteran, you may be eligible for various benefits and services, such as education and job training, assistance starting your own business, or help finding and financing housing. The resources below provide more information about these benefits and services.

Education and Training — Information for transitioning service members interested in continuing education or acquiring training before returning to the workforce.

Department of Veterans Affairs, Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Service — This site provides information on education and employment benefits available to veterans with service-connected disabilities. 

Department of Veterans Affairs, GI Bill — This site provides information on education benefits. 

Veterans Upward Bound Program — This site provides information on the Department of Education’s educational program for veterans. 

Entrepreneurship — Information for those interested in owning their own business, including financial, technical, and managerial assistance to help start, run, and successfully maintain a business.

Small Business Administration, Veterans Business Development — This site provides information and services to veteran small business entrepreneurs. 

Department of Veterans Affairs, Center for Veterans Enterprise — This site provides information for veterans interested in starting a business. 

Department of Veterans Affairs Benefits — Information about federal benefits available to eligible veterans, including details about compensation, insurance, education, medical, pensions, and home loans.

Department of Veterans Affairs, Fact Sheets — This site provides links to fact sheets on health care, benefits, and other services provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs. 

Department of Veterans Affairs, Compensation and Pension Benefits — This site provides information on compensation and pension benefits for veterans and their families.

Department of Veterans Affairs, Facilities Locator and Directory — This site allows the user to search for Veterans Affairs facilities by state.

Department of Veterans Affairs, Transition Assistance — This site provides information on assistance and services provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs to transitioning service members.

Department of Veterans Affairs, Vet Centers — This site provides a directory of the Department of Veterans Affairs Vet Centers in every state that provide readjustment counseling.

Department of Veterans Affairs, Benefits Delivery at Discharge Program — This site provides information on the Benefits Delivery at Discharge Program, which assists the service member with filing disability compensation claims prior to discharge.

Veterans On Line Applications (VONAPP) Website — This site enables veterans to apply online for compensation, pension and vocational rehabilitation benefits through the Department of Veterans Affairs. 

Housing/Lodging — Information about how to locate and finance housing or lodging.

DisabilityInfo.gov — This site offers information for the disability community, including a section dedicated to housing, which provides a list of resources for housing assistance available to veterans.
